Three Nova Scotia wildfire experts are going to Alberta to help fight wildfires on Saturday, May 14. They will help with planning, logistics and fire behaviour.
“The communities being affected by Alberta’s wildfires have close connections with so many Nova Scotians,” said Natural Resources Minister Lloyd Hines. “We are proud to provide our support and we know it is seriously needed.”
Two members are part of the Northeast Fire Compact Team, a mutual aid organization made up of eastern provinces and the northeast United States. A wildfire behaviour specialist will be in charge of forecasting how the fire will respond with weather for the safety of firefighters and communities.
“We send these brave men and women to fight fires with the proud support of all Nova Scotians. We wish them a safe return.”
