Nova Scotia Crimes Stoppers Association launches ‘Crime of the Week’, Dartmouth, N.S.

Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers Association is pleased to announce the launch of the ‘Unsolved Crime of the Week’ starting April 20, 2015.

Every Monday, Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers will share an unsolved crime from around the province and ask for the public’s assistance in providing any information related to the crime.

‘It is our hope that by highlighting these crimes, we will generate new information for investigators,’ says John O’Reilly, Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers Association President. ‘I want to remind citizens that no piece of information is too small or irrelevant. Even if you think it won’t help, please contact us. We want to hear from you.’

Established in November 1987, Crime Stoppers Nova Scotia has received over 105,000 tips, solved 5500 cases and returned more than $5 million of stolen property to the rightful owners. Tipsters have also helped police seize more than $10 million in illegal drugs and prevent a planned mass shooting in Halifax.

The ‘Crime of the Week’ will be shared with media and citizens by the Nova Scotia RCMP and posted on www.crimestoppers.ns.ca , www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/ns and the Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers and Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Nova Scotia Facebook pages.

Citizens can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), utilizing the Secure Web Tips Site at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or by text messaging TIP202 + your message to ‘CRIMES’ (274637).
Remember, Crime Stoppers want your information, not your name.
