Nova Scotia Firefighters to Help Alberta

Twenty wildfire fighters from Nova Scotia and two from P.E.I., left today, May 28, to help fight fires in Alberta.

“The wildfire fighters in our department are very skilled and ready to respond to Alberta’s request for help, just as other jurisdictions have helped our province in the past,” said Natural Resources Minister Zach Churchill.

“We wish our crew all the best while in Alberta, and a safe return.”

Twenty-one of the wildfire fighters will work as a team with the other filling a wildfire management position. The assignment is 14 days.

The Department of Natural Resources will ensure Nova Scotia has proper resources to monitor and respond to any wildfire risks here.
