Nova Scotia Participates in Atlantic Canadian Trade Mission to the European Union

Five Nova Scotia exporters will join businesses and government officials from throughout Atlantic Canada for a trade mission to the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, beginning Sunday, June 11.

The European Union (EU) has strong historical, cultural and trading ties with Nova Scotia. It is the province’s third-largest goods export market, with exports totaling $405 million in 2016.

With the implementation of the Canada-European Union Comprehensive and Economic Trade Agreement the EU market represents an important opportunity for Nova Scotia businesses to grow their exports. Equally important is for Nova Scotia to reinforce trade ties and opportunities with the United Kingdom as it begins the process to determine its future relationship to the European Union.

Deputy Premier Diana Whalen will lead the Nova Scotia delegation and will promote the province’s competitive advantages, including its strong export potential, growing innovation ecosystems and skilled workforce. She will speak to several business audiences including the Canada-United Kingdom Chamber of Commerce, the British-American Business Council and Rotterdam Chamber of Commerce.

The five Nova Scotia participants are:
— Marwood Ltd./Cape Cod Wood Siding, Brookfield and Bedford
— Nova Scotia Community College
— Simplycast Interactive Marketing, Dartmouth
— Muwin Estate Wines, New Ross, Lunenburg Co.
— Shaw Brick, Lantz, Hants Co.
