Nova Scotia Power is warning customers about a text message scam

Nova Scotia Power is warning customers about a text message scam that is circulating where a fraudulent message is delivered claiming that a refund is being issued by the company.

In this scam, the text message states that Nova Scotia Power has an ‘Interac refund’ for the customer and directs the recipient to click a link to access the funds before they expire.

These texts are not from Nova Scotia Power. Nova Scotia Power does not communicate with customers about bill payments or credits via text message.

Recipients are advised not to click on these links. If a recipient has clicked on the link, it’s best that they contact their financial institution immediately.

We encourage recipients of these fraudulent texts to report to local law enforcement.

Any time customers receive unexpected communications about bill payments or credits that appear to come from Nova Scotia Power, please call our Customer Care Centre at 1-800-428-6230 to confirm its legitimacy.
