Nova Scotia RCMP are warning the public about a scam that’s meant to appeal to the heartstrings of the victim in an attempt to get them to give cash.
Several incidents have been reported in June around the province. Police are asking members of the public to be aware of the scam so that they don’t give money to someone who is collecting it fraudulently. In a recent case in Port Hawkesbury, two women were approached by another woman, and were told the woman needed money because her brother just died. In Fall River, someone was approached by a woman who said she needed money to feed her three kids, and another person told police a woman approached them and said she needed money for gas.
Anyone who has information or can provide details about the people or vehicles involved with these scams is asked to contact the RCMP by calling 1-800-803-RCMP anywhere in Nova Scotia.
