Nova Scotia RCMP investigate police-involved shooting in Bathurst, Dartmouth, N.S.

Nova Scotia RCMP officers have been requested by Bathurst Police Force to investigate a fatal shooting that occurred yesterday in Bathurst.

On January 12th, 2015 at approximately 11:25 a.m.

, a 51-year-old Tracadie-Sheila man was fatally wounded by police as part of an ongoing investigation. The man was brought to the Chaleur Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. RCMP are not in a position to release the name of the man.

The preliminary investigation determined shots were fired by police following an incident. An investigation is being conducted by Nova Scotia RCMP. A team of major crime investigators is currently in Bathurst to conduct the investigation.

Given the investigation is in its early stages, RCMP are not able to release a lot of information at this time.
