Nova Scotia SPCA charges second person in North Preston case

Halifax, Nova Scotia (Friday January 17, 2014) ––On January 15, 2014 the Nova Scotia SPCA charged the owner of a North Preston home with three counts of Animal Cruelty.
On January 17, 2014 the Nova Scotia SPCA charged the owner of the dog who stepped forward after the initial charges were laid.  He, too, will be charged with three counts of animal cruelty under the Animal Protection Act- failure to provide an adequate source of food and water, failure to provide reasonable protection from injurious heat or cold, and causing an animal to be in distress.
 
If convicted, the accused could face a lifetime prohibition on owning or having custody of animals, a maximum fine of $10,000.00, or six months jail time.
