Nova Scotia SPCA receives $107,000 grant from PetSmart Charities.

The Nova Scotia SPCA has been awarded a $107,000 grant from PetSmart Charities to operate the SPCAs’ Mobile Clinic.

This grant will enable the Nova Scotia SPCA to expand its feral cat Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program in 2017 with a goal to visit over 40 locations across Nova Scotia to spay/neuter over 1000 cats.

Locations where the Mobile Clinic wishes to operate must be approved and accredited by the NSVMA (Nova Scotia Veterinary Medical Association) after meeting certain conditions such as permissions from Veterinary Practices in the community.  For these dates, we will only service feral cats or SPCA owned animals.

Feral cats are humanely trapped, spayed/neutered, ear tipped and then returned to their colony. This provides many benefits to their lives and to the community overall with less noise from breeding, fighting and less disease transmission.

• Locations will be needed to house cats pre and post surgery and for the Mobile Clinic to operate at.
