Six Nova Scotia surfers will represent Canada at the 2010 Billabong ISA World Surfing Games in Lima, Peru this month.
In the Men’s Open division, Logan Landry, Jacob Albury and Myles Baldwin will wear the Maple Leaf. In the Women’s Open it will be Julie Baldwin Forbes and Janine Isabella Strickland. And in the Longboard division it will be Brian Villeneuve.
The team will be managed by Canadian Surfing Association (CSA) president John Fluke.
This Saturday night (Oct. 9) there will be a fundraiser party at 1689 Cow Bay Road from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The party will feature kegs, Red Bull, food (BBQ or lobber boil), music and prizes. Cover charge $10.
All proceeds will go towards helping Team Canada get to the contest, which will take place from October 16-27 at “Senoritas y Caballeros” in Punta Hermosa, located about 42 kilometers from Lima.
Señoritas is described as a long left with plenty of power that barrels on its best days. Caballeros is a well-known classic right, with long rides that on the best days can last up to 300 meters.
