Nova Scotians Reminded to Exchange Peeling Licence Plates

Any Nova Scotian with peeling paint on their vehicle’s licence plate is required to visit an Access Nova Scotia Centre to obtain a replacement plate. Defective plates will be replaced at no cost.

Some Nova Scotia licence plates produced in 2008 have experienced peeling paint.  The plates are in the ENG001 to ETA499 range.

If the plate is within the identified range, it does not need to be brought to an Access Nova Scotia Centre. If a plate outside the identified range has peeling paint, drivers are asked to bring in the plate.

Out of the 85,000 Bluenose plates manufactured in 2008, about 17,000 have been replaced to date for various reasons, including peeling.

Under the Motor Vehicle Act, Nova Scotians are responsible for ensuring their licence plates are clearly visible and legible to law enforcement agencies.
