Halifax Regional Police (HRP) and Halifax District RCMP release a monthly vehicle/pedestrian collision report to provide police and citizens with more contextual information on this issue.
A total of 254 vehicle/pedestrian/bicycle collisions have been reported from January to November 2018 in Halifax Regional Municipality. Of the total collisions, 63 involved a bicycle. The remaining 191 incidents were vehicle/pedestrian collisions, with 203 pedestrian victims. This represents a decrease of three incidents over the same time period in 2017.
There were 32 vehicle/pedestrian collisions were reported in November 2018. Month over month, this represents an increase of five incidents from the 27 incidents reported in October 2018. Year over year, there was an increase of eight incidents from the 24 incidents reported in November 2017.
For January 1- November 30, 2018, 63.35% (121 incidents) of vehicle/pedestrian collisions occurred in crosswalks as compared with 66.49% (129 incidents) reported during this period in 2017.
