November vehicle/pedestrian collision stats

Halifax Regional Police (HRP) and Halifax District RCMP release a monthly vehicle/pedestrian collision report to provide police and citizens with more contextual information on this issue.

During the month of November, there were 24 vehicle/pedestrian collisions in Halifax. Month over month, this represents a slight decrease of one from the 25 incidents reported in October 2017. Year over year, the number of incidents decreased slightly; there were 26 incidents reported in November 2016.

For January – November 2017, there have been 194 reported incidents of vehicle/pedestrian collisions, an increase of 11 incidents over the same period in 2016, involving 200 pedestrian victims. Of the incidents, 66.49 per cent (129 incidents) occurred in crosswalks. Of the 200 pedestrians involved:
• 59 reported no injury
• 98 experienced minor injuries
• 24 experienced moderate injuries

• 2 experienced severe injuries

• 17 did not report their injuries to police
