NS News: Police charge man with Counseling to Commit Murder, Halifax Regional Municipality, N.S.

The RCMP/HRP Integrated Major Crimes Unit has charged a man for attempting to hire a person to commit Murder.

On August 5th, a complaint was received at the Tantallon RCMP about a possible attempt to murder a 46-year-old man from Beaver Bank.

The matter was turned over to investigators in the Major Crime Unit.

Yesterday, August 8th, a 69-year-old man from Halifax was arrested and subsequently charged by investigators. Brian Kenneth Penney is charged with Counselling to Commit Murder under Section 464 (a) of the Criminal Code. He is appearing in Halifax Provincial Court this morning.

Police allege that between April 1st and July 31st, 2013, Penney attempted to hire a man to kill a 46-year-old Beaver Bank man. The intended victim in this incident was not harmed.

If an individual solicits someone to commit an offence and the offence is not committed, the individual that did the soliciting has committed the offence of counselling.
