Chestico Days is about homecoming and celebrating community, and the RCMP are asking people to keep safety in mind. A number of private and organized events have been planned throughout the community of Port Hood and RCMP want to remind people that it is their responsibility to ensure everyone has a fun a safe weekend.

Chestico Days is about homecoming and celebrating community, and the RCMP are asking people to keep safety in mind.

A number of private and organized events have been planned throughout the community of Port Hood and RCMP want to remind people that it is their responsibility to ensure everyone has a fun a safe weekend.

Here are a few points to keep you safe:
– if your plans include alcohol consumption, please ensure you have a designated driver.

– if you plan on walking to and from events, please wear light coloured clothing.

– stay in well lit areas and refrain from walking in the middle of the roads or highways.

Inverness RCMP will have additional officers working to ensure public safety. Officers will be conducting extra patrols and checkpoints to deter Impaired Driving and other Criminal Code and Provincial Statute violations.

There will be strict enforcement with respect to open liquor and loud parties that disturb the tranquility of neighbourhoods. The fines for illegal possession of liquor is $457.41, and for public intoxication is $123.91.
