Public Health has changed its approach to manage the significant increase in COVID-19 activity across the province. Most Nova Scotians who are positive for COVID-19 will identify and contact their close contacts. As a result, Public Health no longer has the necessary information to report accurate exposure sites and locations, and therefore, will not be issuing exposure notifications.
The Omicron variant of COVID-19 is widespread in Nova Scotia and the risk of transmission of the virus is high everywhere. Nova Scotians should continue to follow public health measures when visiting any public location.
These measures include:
- Wear a three-layer properly fitting mask
- Stay six feet away from others
- Wash your hands often (or use hand sanitizer)
- Follow gathering limits
- If feeling unwell, stay home and book a COVID-19 test
If you have COVID-19 symptoms or are a close contact of someone who tested positive, you need to book a COVID-19 test. To determine the type of test you require and to book your appointment, complete the online assessment, or call 811. If you test positive on a rapid test (or book an appointment for a PCR test), please complete the Report and Support screening form at https://c19hc.nshealth.ca/self-report. You will also need to advise your close contacts and follow directions for people who test positive at https://www.nshealth.ca/testedpositiveforcovid.
Travel: Anyone who is travelling must follow regulations based on vaccination status. Travelling from within Canada – follow provincial regulations (https://novascotia.ca/coronavirus/restrictions-and-guidance).Travelling from outside of Canada – follow federal regulations (https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid#f). If you are not fully vaccinated, or you are now eligible for your booster dose (24 weeks after your second dose), please visit https://novascotia.ca/coronavirus/book-your-vaccination-appointment or call 1-833-797-7772. All Nova Scotians are advised to continue monitoring for COVID-19 symptoms and are urged to follow Public Health guidelines on how to access care.
