NSLC Announces Second Quarter Results


The Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC) released its second quarter results today, Oct. 18, for July 4 to Oct. 2, 2016.

Compared to the same period last year, net income was $70.4 million, down $2 million, while total sales were down $4.4 million to $172.8 million. The total volume of alcohol sold was down 5.1 per cent and overall customer transactions were down 2.1 per cent. The average dollar value of each transaction declined by 0.4 per cent.

On the upside Nova Scotia craft beer sales grew by 39.7 per cent to $3.2 million. Nova Scotia wine sales, using locally grown grapes, grew by 6.1 per cent to $3.2 million, while sales for Nova Scotia commercial wine, produced here with imported grapes, were up 3 per cent to $5.9 million. Ready-to-drink products, mostly ciders made with local apples, increased by 81.4 per cent, to $1 million, and local spirit sales grew by 174 per cent to $900,000.
