The Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC) released its third quarter results today, Feb. 25, for Sept. 28 to Dec. 27, 2015.
Compared to the same period last year, net income was $64.4 million, up $2.4 million, while total sales were up $2.8 million to $157.8 million. The total volume of alcohol sold was up 1.2 per cent as were overall customer transactions. The average dollar value of each transaction grew by half a per cent.
All Nova Scotia product categories experienced growth. Nova Scotia wine sales grew by 14.7 per cent, while sales for Nova Scotia commercial wine, produced here with imported grapes, were up 5.8 per cent. Craft beer sales grew by 25.1 per cent to $2 million, ready-to-drink products increased by 35 per cent, and local spirit sales grew by 256.3 per cent to $580,000.
