Officer Shoots at Dog

At 4:30 a.m. East Division Patrol members were conducting surveillance on a home in the 300 block of Portland Street in relation to an ongoing investigation when a member on the street in front of the residence was charged by two dogs. 
At 4:30 a.m. East Division Patrol members were conducting surveillance on a home in the 300 block of Portland Street in relation to an ongoing investigation when a member on the street in front of the residence was charged by two dogs. 
The dogs ran from the property being watched onto the street at the officer in an aggressive manner. The member discharged three shots from his issued sidearm, striking one of the dogs. Both dogs retreated back onto the property and then into the residence.
 
A 911 call was received moments later from the residence in relation to one of the dogs being shot. The dog, a bull terrier breed, was transported along with its owner to the emergency Veterinary clinic by one of the police officers at the scene.
 
The investigation members were conducting is ongoing and police remain at the scene.
