Sherbrooke Village’s annual, award-winning Old Fashioned Christmas celebration will once again enchant visitors. This year, the event will run Nov. 25-27 and Dec. 3-4.
Festivities begin with a traditional tree-lighting ceremony and a candlelight procession through the village followed by free family entertainment by the Kidd Brothers, a visit from Santa and a fireworks display to round off the evening. There will be hot chocolate and treats available.
Activities will include craft workshops, craft show and sales, a petting zoo, children’s scavenger hunt, maple candy making, a family skate, festive dinners, community breakfasts, a concert, dance, card play, darts, theatrical performance and house tours. Both Saturdays will feature Victorian teas in the afternoon.
On Sunday, Nov. 27 at 9:30 a.m., there will be a five and 10 kilometre Jingle Run.
New this year, visitors can learn with artisans in their workshops. There will be a closing parade on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 4:30 p.m. followed by a second fireworks display.
“It’s a wonderful time for visitors of all ages to experience the magical feeling of Christmas from days gone by,” said Karen Pye, vice-chair of the Sherbrooke Village Old Fashioned Christmas Association committee. “The looks on children’s faces and comments from event participants is well worth the time and effort invested.”
During its 23 years of celebration, the Old Fashioned Christmas at Sherbrooke Village has attracted thousands of visitors and been named one of the top 10 events in the province by the Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia.
