Snowbank, parked truck, power pole: Man faces impaired driving charges

RCMP release:

RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment has arrested an impaired driver following a single-vehicle crash in Hubley.

On February 20, at approximately 12:35 a.m., officers responded to a report of a crashed vehicle in the 3800 block of St. Margarets Bay Rd.  Officers learned that a Subaru Forester had been travelling north when it struck a snowbank, collided with a parked truck, and continued down the road before hitting a power pole.

Officers arrived on scene and located the driver, who was out of the vehicle and uninjured.  The man, a 40-year-old from Westphal, showed signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving.  He was transported to the Tantallon RCMP Detachment, where he provided two breath samples registering 160 mg% and 160 mg%.

The man was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date.

The road was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
