Investigators in the Financial Crime Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have charged a man from Kemptville Ontario with fraud and theft-related offences.
On September 24, 2013, Halifax Regional Police received a complaint regarding an employee who was misappropriating funds from his employer, a non-profit organization. Christopher Daniel J. Scullino, who at the time was the Vice Chair of Halifax Pride, was accused of taking Halifax Pride funds and depositing them into his own personal account. Through the course of the investigation, investigators determined that the Halifax Pride Committee was defrauded of over $16,000.
On May 2, 2014, an arrest warrant was issued for Scullino who had left the province. On November 2, members of the HRP/RCMP Integrated High Risk Enforcement Action Team (HEAT) travelled to Brockville Ontario and arrested 30-year-old Scullino for the following offences:
· Fraud over $5,000
· Theft over $5,000
· Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
Scullino is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to answer to the charges.
