Open House: Bayers Road Transit & Active Transportation Improvements project

The Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting residents to an upcoming open house to review and discuss the design of the Bayers Road Transit and Active Transportation Improvements project.

Municipal staff are currently planning for the construction of dedicated bus lanes on Bayers Road between Romans Avenue and Windsor Street. The addition of a multi-use path on the south side of Bayers Road between Romans Avenue and George Dauphinee Avenue will also provide a significantly improved pedestrian and cycling experience in the area.

Construction is targeted to start in 2020 and will be completed in phases.

The open house will be an opportunity to review details of the project, as well as the expected implementation approach and time frame.

Wednesday, January 29, 2020

6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Halifax Forum | Maritime Hall

This project is a key component of Halifax Transit’s Moving Forward Together Plan and Integrated Mobility Plan, which recommend investment in transit lanes for the Bayers Road corridor in order to give priority to buses over general traffic, improve transit reliability, and ultimately encourage more people to use transit.

All are welcome to attend the open house, and municipal staff will be present to answer questions. A snow date has been scheduled for Thursday, January 30 from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the same location, if needed.
