Oscar watch from the ‘burbs. In my jammies.

Ally: The sickness continues. I am writing this while wearing my Joe Fresh leggings (seriously, this purchase was the highlight of my month) and cuddling on the couch with El Jeffe. LA is playing the role of Ryan Seacrest at the Khyber. Who’s having more fun? Yes. Her.

My favourite part of any red carpet event is seeing how much LA and I disagree on who looked the best and worst. Let’s see how her answers compare with mine:

Best:

Jennifer Lawrence wearing Calvin Klein. The Fug Girls said it looked as though she was wearing the dress version of Farrah’s red swimsuit. Perhaps this is why I love it.

Reese. I loved the hair. It was fun, different and classic all at the same time. Why the eff did I cut bangs?

Starting to hate the dress, but adore the hair.

On an aside, because that’s what I do. My husband has likened my hair to that of Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber. Granted, we have both been sick the past few weeks and we’re kind of cranky, but I think he’s sort of truth-telling. Also, BabyG looks at me when my bangs are down and shakes his head saying, “No. No.”

If you're wondering what I'm looking like out here in 'burbia. This is it.

I also adored Scarlett’s Dolce & Gabanna dress and her fabulous hair. One day, when I don’t look so Jim Carrey-esq I might chop my hair like so. It’s sort of soccer mom gone bad.

Worst:

Melissa Leo. I said it on Twitter. She looked like she was about to get pissed drunk drinking house white at her niece’s wedding in Jersey.

Nicole Kidman. Stop it. Stop everything.

Disgusting.

If she was trying to help John Galliano’s cause, she failed.

One of my friends emailed me and asked why Nicole showed up to the Oscars with Kato Kaelin. I’d love to argue with him, because you know I love Keith…but…he’s got a point.

BabyG loves that song. We dance around the living room with that on repeat. I understand that I have just described L-A’s personal vision of Hell.

L-A: I actually dressed up this evening and went downtown and drank in public (as opposed to drinking alone in my jammies). To make sure I didn’t have too much fun this evening, I chose a dress that I could barely zip myself into and at one point in the evening, was sure I couldn’t breathe.  Okay, I could breathe, but it was painful. And I did it less out of sympathy for Ally and more out of a need to wear black so that I could show off my glitter shoes.

Anyway, on to my favourites and whatnot.

Favourite dresses of the night:

Not Jennifer Lawrence. Too Baywatch for me. I totally dug the following:

Once off the red carpet, Florence was totally a fierce machine.
I love this Valentino number…even with the bustle. Totally favourite host outfit.

Dresses I liked the least:

I actually agree with Ally. Off the top of my head, I can’t think of anything good to say about Melissa Leo’s dress. And if she hadn’t dropped an eff-bomb, it would have been the worst kind of “golly gee whiz” speech ever. Those are the sort of speeches that make me want to throw things at the screen.

Some have called Scarlett’s dress a “best”, but there was little about it that I liked:

just…it was…too messy.

And adorable Reese, who normally I love? The dress was okay, but the hair was not at all.

if it weren't for the hair. …

There was other dresses that I loved/ loathed/hated will have to wait until tomorrow. The wine and the tired is starting to kick in and I have school in the a.m.

A big special thanks to Carbon Arc Cinema and Lauren O for making tonight happen. We also want to thank all of our sponsors for their fantastic prize donations. Golf claps to the sponsors that I remember off the top of my head: LoulouBell, Boutique JoliettePropeller, Hydrostone Osteopathy, CD Heaven, Strange Adventures, Foxy Moon Hair, Saskia Roch Aesthetics and Willow Esthetics.  Y’all rock.
