It would seem that out of province parking violators have been getting a free ride. There is no way for HRM to force parking violators from outside of Nova Scotia to pay their fines, and that means the coffers are out a significant amount of money.
An article over on AOLCanada this morning has the details:
“Under the current system, parking enforcement officers in the Halifax Regional Municipality can slap a ticket on the windshield of a vehicle with an out-of-province licence plate.
But it’s really up to that driver to decide whether to pay it.”
