Halifax District RCMP received a call yesterday of an overdue fisherman from Dollar Lake Provincial Park. Halifax District RCMP, Department of Lands and Forestry, Nova Scotia Environment Conservation Officers,Department of Fisheries and Ocean, Halifax Ground Search and Rescue, as well as Cook’s Brook and Middle Musquodoboit Fire Departments responded to the incident, and the male’s body was recovered from the lake early this morning.
At approximately 9:30 p.m. last night, Halifax District RCMP received a report of an overdue fisherman. The 72-year-old man from Lower Sackville had been fishing at Dollar Lake Park and his truck was parked at the boat launch.
A search of the immediate area was conducted but was negative. Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) was activated. At 1:47 a.m. the body of the missing man was located in the water. The male appeared to be wearing a floatation suit. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Service will conduct an autopsy tomorrow, and the investigation is ongoing.
