Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality appreciates residents’ ongoing cooperation in finding off-street parking in areas where crews are doing overnight snow removal.
This work is continuing tonight in downtown Halifax on the following streets:
Quinpool Road outbound from Monastery Lane to Poplar Street Dresden Row from Sackville Street to Clyde Street Hollis Street from the Cogswell Interchange to South Street
Residents are asked to move their vehicles off the street in those areas between midnight and 6 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27. Residents are reminded that under Section 139 of the Motor Vehicle Act, vehicles can be ticketed or towed any time of the day or night if they are obstructing snow clearing.
The municipal overnight parking ban has been lifted until further notice to allow residents to park in areas where crews won’t be working.
Rather than waiting for snow to accumulate, the municipality is taking a more proactive approach this season by removing snow in problem areas in between weather events. This will help maintain parking in the business districts and ensure emergency vehicles, buses and other traffic can safely access the streets throughout the winter.
