Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – Crews are continuing with snow removal tonight before the Halifax region is hit with more snow tomorrow. We appreciate residents’ ongoing cooperation in not parking on the street in the areas where crews will be working.
Tonight crews will focus on the following streets in Halifax:
Residents are asked to find off-street parking from midnight to 6 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29. Residents are reminded that under Section 139 of the Motor Vehicle Act, vehicles can be ticketed or towed any time of the day or night if they are obstructing snow clearing.
The municipal overnight parking ban has been lifted until further notice to allow residents to park in areas where crews won’t be working.
Rather than waiting for snow to accumulate, the municipality is taking a more proactive approach this season by removing snow in problem areas in between weather events. This will help maintain parking in the business districts and ensure emergency vehicles, buses and other traffic can safely access the streets throughout the winter.
