Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is asking residents to refrain from parking on a section of Quinpool Road in Halifax tonight to assist with overnight snow removal in the area.
The municipal overnight parking ban has been lifted until further notice to allow residents to park in areas where crews won’t be working. Tonight crews will focus on removing snow inbound on Quinpool between Beech Street and Robie Street.
Residents are asked to move their vehicles off the street in that area between 8 p.m. tonight and 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25. Residents are reminded that under Section 139 of the Motor Vehicle Act, vehicles can be ticketed or towed any time of the day or night if they are obstructing snow clearing.
Rather than waiting for snow to accumulate, the municipality is taking a more proactive approach this season by removing snow in problem areas in between weather events. This will help maintain parking in the business districts and ensure emergency vehicles, buses and other traffic can safely access the streets throughout the winter.
