Pedestrian in Crosswalk Struck By Vehicle

At approximately 9:05 this morning, Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a car vs pedestrian accident in the area of Gottingen St and Falkland St, in Halifax. The pedestrian was crossing Gottingen Street in a marked crosswalk and, was struck by a car that backed into the crosswalk. A 34 year old male was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the car was issued a Summary Offence ticket for Unsafe Backing, contrary to Section 120(1) and Operating Motor Vehicle Without Valid Insurance contrary to Section 230 (1) of the Motor Vehicle Act.
