(Wednesday, March 21, 2012) – Beginning April 2, 2012, permit parking will be implemented on nine residential streets in Halifax. The new parking controls will be in effect Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. During that time only residents who have purchased annual parking exemptions and non-residents who have purchased monthly parking permits will be allowed to park on these streets.

The streets included are Davison Street, Wright Avenue, Divas Lane, Woodill Street, Falkland Street, Williams Street, James Street, West Street (west of Agricola) and Maynard Street (south of Buddy Daye).

HRM’s Parking Permit Program entitles permit and exemption holders to park their vehicle on the street within specified areas indicated by signage – “Parking by Permit Only”. The program will help manage supply of weekday on-street parking in residential areas where demand is high.

April permits will be available for purchase on Monday, March 26 at all HRM Customer Service Centres. The cost for permits will be between 30 and 40 dollars depending on the zone.

To purchase an exemption, residents must provide proof of residence and vehicle permit documents. To purchase a parking permit, non-residents must provide vehicle permit documents.
