This beautiful marine and wildlife habitat will soon be destroyed as part of Bedford’s infill project to create condominiums in an urbanized waterfront.
This includes a substantial reef containing a large inter-tidal zone teeming with marine life.
The natural reef and tidal pool on the shores of Bedford Basin are home to a variety of important species including: Atlantic Salmon, Gaspereaux, American Eels, starfish, jellyfish, barnacles, and a variety of shore birds, including Osprey, common terns, and spotted sandpipers.
The organizers of this group have set up an online petition. To have your voice heard, visit www.ipetitions.com/petition/bedfordbasinreef.
You can also join “Save the Bedford Basin Reef!” on Facebook for the latest updates – Councillor Tim Outhit, MP Geoff Regan and MLA Kelly Regan are all members.
