Phone scam: Caller poses as NS Power employee

The Nova Scotia RCMP is warning the public about a phone scam where the caller poses as a Nova Scotia Power (NSP) employee.

The scammer claims that you haven’t paid for your smart meter installation and threatens to disconnect your power within an hour if you don’t pay immediately.

They may also mention that a technician is en route to your residence.This scam is designed to deceive people into giving out their personal information, including bank or credit card details.

If you receive an unexpected call regarding your NSP account or any other account, hang up and contact the service provider directly to verify.
