(Photos) Man in custody after weapons incident at Bayers Lake hotel

Halifax Regional Police were called to the Halifax Tower Hotel on Lakelands Boulevard at approximately 10 a.m. today due to a weapons-related incident. The police swiftly secured the area, urging the public to stay away while instructing hotel guests to shelter in place.

At around 11:15 a.m., one man was taken into custody. Police confirmed that there were no reported injuries, and roads around the area have since been reopened to traffic. Access to the Halifax Tower Hotel has also resumed.

Throughout the incident, guests reported that both the elevators and stairs were temporarily shut down. Police officers wearing riot gear and gas masks were seen moving through the hotel. A sensory irritant was deployed during the operation, and its effects were felt throughout the building. “We went down to breakfast and everything was as normal. General manager came around and addressed everyone and told us everything was under control” said one of our followers who wished to remain anonymous.

While the investigation remains ongoing and police maintain their presence at the scene, authorities have assured the public that there is no continuing threat. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
