Pictou County RCMP Investigate Serious Collision

Pictou County District RCMP were to called the scene of a serious collision just before 12:00 a.m. last evening on Gairloch Rd.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, a 33-year-old man from Iron Rock, was thrown from the vehicle and landed a short distance away on the side of the road. He sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital via LifeFlight for treatment in Halifax.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene shortly after and the road was closed while officers completed their examination. The road has since been re-opened.

The investigation is ongoing.
