Pictou District RCMP at scene of serious motor vehicle incident, Three Brooks, N.S.

Pictou District RCMP are investigating a serious incident that occurred on the Sunrise Trail.

At approximately 11:10 a.m., RCMP and EHS responded to an incident involving two vehicles. Preliminary investigation determined that a service vehicle heading west met an oncoming pick-up truck on the trail.

When the vehicles met, a ladder came off the service vehicle and hit the oncoming vehicle. The lone occupant of the pick-up truck, a 42-year-old man from Pictou County, was transported to the Aberdeen hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the service vehicle was not hurt. LifeFlight has been activated.

The highway is reduced to one lane in the area and RCMP remain on scene. An RCMP collision analyst is also on scene. The investigation is continuing.
