Ping Identity Expands in Nova Scotia

Ping Identity, a leader in IT security, is expanding its Nova Scotia operation.

Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI) has signed a five-year incentive agreement with the identity security company to help it create jobs and invest in Nova Scotia.

Ping Identity provides services to more than 1,200 customers worldwide, including half of the Fortune 100.

“Nova Scotia’s rich pool of technology expertise attracted us to the area,” said Jason Powell, Ping Identity engineering site director. “We’re recruiting a healthy mix of experienced professionals and new college graduates as we build a top-notch team of Java software and quality-assurance engineers to create new components for our Identity Management platform.”

Ping Identity can earn up to $918,000 in job-creation incentives from NSBI’s Strategic Investment Funds as it adds up to 60 new full-time jobs over five years. If the company achieves the maximum payroll target, the tax benefit to the province would be $1.25 million.

Currently in Bedford, Ping Identity’s Halifax Engineering Centre of Excellence opened in November and employs 11 engineers. The company is moving to downtown Halifax and plans to hire at least six more engineers this year.

Under the terms of the NSBI agreement, Ping Identity is eligible to earn a rebate on the payroll for new positions. The company must create at least four positions. If it reaches maximum 60 positions, Ping Identity will add more than $10.8 million in salary.

“Ping Identity represents a new opportunity that has evolved from developing key sectors in our province, such as IT. This company is a valuable addition to the thriving sector, here in the province,” said Peter MacAskill, vice-president of NSBI.

Headquartered in Denver, Ping Identity has more than 350 employees worldwide and offices in Boston, San Francisco, London and Melbourne, Australia.
