Please be advised that the Warming Centre will be OPEN Thursday, December 19th from 12pm – 8:30 pm.
Temperatures are expected to drop to -15 with windchill by noon and continue to become cooler as the day progresses.
The Warming Centre is a relaxed space that allows community members to come in from the outside and stay warm on cold days. We offer an alternative space from the cold and poor weather until the library and other spaces open up and/or for folks who are unable to access other warm spaces. In order for the Warming Centre to be open, Environment Canada’s forecast will be calling for – 15 degrees (with windchill), or 25 cm of snow. Occasionally the Warming Centre may be open due to other weather conditions at the discretion of the organizers.
The Warming Centre is located in the basement of St. Matt’s Church, at 1479 Barrington St in Halifax. Entry to the Warming Centre is the door to the left of the church, down the large set of stairs into the side yard. Knock loudly on the grey door at the bottom of the stairs.
