Please note. There is a change to the weekend closure of the Macdonald Bridge

Traffic Advisory

The road deck of the Macdonald Bridge will be closed to traffic 7:00pm Friday, July 5 until 9:00pm Saturday, July 6. The bridge will be closed again 1:30am Sunday, July 7 until 4:30am Sunday, July 7.

The bike lane and sidewalk will be open.

The closures are required to replace bearings on two of the bridge piers of the Macdonald Bridge, located on the approach span of the bridge in Dartmouth. HHB began a process of replacing the bearings in 2015. The bearings, original to when the bridge opened in 1955, were identified as needing to be replaced based on condition and performance.
