The Financial Crime Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division is advising local businesses and citizens of the presence of counterfeit American bills in the Halifax region.
Police are investigating multiple reports of counterfeit American currency in a variety of denominations passed at local businesses this month.
It is a crime to make, pass or possess counterfeit money. It is always good idea to check the security features in bank notes before accepting them.

Don’t accept a bill you believe is counterfeit. Contact police at 902-490-5020 if you think you’ve received a counterfeit bill or if someone attempts to use a bill that appears to be counterfeit.
