Police are investigating a robbery that occurred during the early morning hours

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a robbery that occurred during the early morning hours.

At 12:45 p.m. on September 4, officers attended the QE11 Hospital for a male who came to hospital reporting he had been assaulted sometime overnight.

The male 45 year old victim told police he had been sleeping in his vehicle, a white SUV, in the parking lot of the Superstore at 1075 Barrington St. in Halifax. Some time during the early morning hours he was awoken by a male suspect tapping on his window asking for a light for a cigarette.

When he put down his window he was struck on the head by an unknown object and lost consciousness. When he woke later in the morning he realized his wallet and a sum of cash was missing.

The male was treated and released from hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a male possibly wearing a white jacket.

The investigation is on going.
