Police investigate robbery

Police are investigating a robbery that occurred earlier this evening in Halifax.

At approximately 6:43 p.m. police responded to the Griffins Smoke Shop located within the Mumford Road Sobeys store.

A male dressed in a black Security Guard uniform armed with a knife entered the business and demanded cash.​ The employee was uninjured and the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.​ He was last observed walking on Mumford Road towards Chebucto Road.​ The Security Guard uniform had reflective bands on each of the arms.

Soon after the incident investigators believe the suspect changed his clothing and was last observed wearing a red jacket with black and white striped down the sleeves, an orange T-shirt, blue track pants with a white stripe and black sneakers with white soles. He was also carrying a black bag with polka dots.​ After changing the suspect was last observed heading towards the Mumford Road Walmart store.

He is further described as a white male, ​ between 50-60 years old, approximately 5’8”, slim build, wearing glasses and possibly grey hair.
