A man is facing multiple charges after fleeing from police Tuesday afternoon and nearly colliding with a police vehicle.
On June 6 at 12:30 p.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop on a car for a motor vehicle infraction in the 200 block of Country View Drive in Dartmouth. When the officer turned on his lights and siren, the driver backed up, nearly hitting the police vehicle behind him. The driver sped away at a high rate of speed onto Shubie Drive, turned right onto Finlay Drive then turned left off Wright Avenue heading northbound on Highway 118. The driver continued to operate the vehicle in a reckless manner at a high rate of speed resulting in the termination of the pursuit.
On June 7, police located the suspect and his vehicle in the area of Wilkinson Drive in Dartmouth where he was arrested without incident.
Nineteen-year-old Sean Earle Durnnian of Truro Heights has been charged with assaulting a police officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from police. He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today to face these charges.
