Police arrest man in robbery

Halifax Regional Police arrested a man in connection with a robbery that occurred last week in Halifax.

At 6:57 a.m. on September 29, police responded to a robbery in progress at the Irving gas station located at 2499 Robie Street in Halifax. A man entered the business and asked for cigarettes, which he was given by the employee. When the employee asked for payment, the man produced a knife and fled on foot. The employee was not physically injured during the incident.

While on their way to attend the robbery call, patrol members observed a man matching the suspect description who was carrying a knife in the area of Davison and West Streets. The man was arrested and taken into custody without incident.

Police have charged 31-year-old Craig Robert Hatt of Halifax with one count each of robbery, uttering threats and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on September 29.
