Police arrest man wielding knife outside Tim Hortons

On Saturday June 2, 2024, (shortly after midnight) at approximately 12:42 am, New Glasgow Regional Police received a report of a male waving a machete at the Tim Hortons Wendys on Westville Road New Glasgow.

While the lone male was waving a machete outside the business, the staff quickly locked the doors. The man tried to get inside the locked business but could not. He then gained entry by smashing the front-side door. Once inside, he immediately fled the scene. Staff took precaution and went into a shelter and place, where no one was injured.

Police immediately arrived and located the 42-year-old male nearby where he was arrested and taken into custody.

A 2008 Toyota truck parked in the middle of the road adjacent to the business, still running was towed as part of the investigation as the owner was the man arrested.

Police also seized a Machete at the scene.

The 42-year-old male from Pictou County was charged with,

  • Assault with a Weapon.
  • Possession of a Weapon Dangerous.
  • Mischief.
  • Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Prohibited.

The man was remanded into custody and will be attending Provincial Court in Pictou on Monday June 3, 2024
