Update: Suspects were released due to a lack of evidence
Earlier today, police arrested a male and female in relation to the homicide of Daverico Downey.
On April 23, 2016, shortly after 2 a.m., police located a deceased male outside in the Downey Rd. area of North Preston after responding to reports of gun shots being fired. The victim appeared to have been shot. The male was later identified as 20-year-old Daverico Downey and his death was deemed a homicide.
The Homicide Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division took over the investigation.
Shortly after 9 a.m. today, officers arrested a 33-year-old female at a residence in Dartmouth without incident. Shortly after 11 a.m., officers arrested a 22-year-old male at a residence in Dartmouth without incident. A search warrant was also executed at a home in Dartmouth on Green Village Lane and a vehicle was seized.
Both remain in police custody and the investigation is ongoing.
