Officers assigned to the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are investigating an aggravated assault that occurred last week in Halifax.
On December 13 at 6:40 p.m., police responded to an assault-in-progress call on Brunswick Street near Sackville Street. The victim advised that he was walking southbound on Brunswick Street when he noticed in the distance a woman in a grey jacket walking towards him. He also noted a man walking behind her that seemed agitated. The woman crossed the road but the man who was behind her continued on the same side of the street, and when he eventually crossed paths with the victim, he punched the victim in the face causing him to fall to the ground. The victim, a 46-year-old man from Quebec, was located at the scene with facial injuries and was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The victim and the suspect were not known to each other.
The suspect is described as a white man in his 20’s, approximately 5’11’ tall with blond hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark baseball hat, a grey hoodie and blue jeans.
The investigation into this matter is ongoing. Police are looking to speak with the woman in the grey jacket, or anyone with information about this incident to come forward by calling 902-490-5016.
