Police asking for public’s assistance in aggravated assault investigation

Officers assigned to the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are investigating an aggravated assault that occurred last week in Halifax.

On July 20 at 7:30 p.m., police responded to an injured person call at the corner of Buddy Daye Street and Gottingen Street. The victim, a 51-year-old man from Halifax, was located at the scene with a head injury and was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Through the investigation, officers obtained information that the victim was assaulted by another man. At this point in the investigation, it is believed that the victim and the suspect are known to each other.

The suspect is described as a man, between the ages of 40-50, approximately 5’5’ tall, medium build with a facial hair.

The investigation into this matter is ongoing. Police are asking anyone who was in the area between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. or anyone with information about this incident to come forward by calling 902-490-5016.
