Police have charged a Cole Harbour woman with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (hydromorphone) in relation to the death of Ryan Good.
On the afternoon of December 10, 2012, Halifax Emergency Health Services (EHS) responded to a 911 call for emergency service at a residence in Eastern Passage.
Upon arrival, EHS members located Mr. Good, who was unresponsive. Mr. Good was transported to Dartmouth General Hospital and was pronounced deceased upon arrival. Dartmouth General Hospital personnel then requested RCMP members to notify Mr. Good’s next of kin. A short time later, the Medical Examiner’s office requested the RCMP to interview Leah Bordage, the last person to see Mr. Good alive. An investigation was then conducted and no charges were laid.
In August 2013, a public complaint was received by the RCMP. During the course of the public complaint investigation, information was brought to the attention of the Public Complaints Investigator. The information was then provided to the RCMP/HRP Criminal Investigation Division’s Special Investigations Section where the file was assigned and re-opened. After reviewing and gathering additional evidence, in consultation with the Public Prosecution Service Canada, the evidence supported the criminal charge.
‘We take the issue of drug trafficking very seriously,’ says Insp. Trish MacCormack, Unified Command, RCMP/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division. ‘We hope today’s charge provides some closure for Mr. Good’s family.’
Forty-four year old Leah Bordage of Eastern Passage is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on May 7, 2014.
The public complaint investigation is still ongoing.
