Police charge driver with Stunting

November 28, 2012, Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) . . .  Police have charged a 20-year-old man from Halifax with Stunting.

Yesterday at 6:20 p.m., RCMP observed an eastbound vehicle traveling at a speed of 171 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on Highway 101. Halifax Regional Police stopped the vehicle on Highway 102 near Exit 3. The driver has been immediately suspended from driving for a minimum period of one week. Upon conviction, the driver also faces a fine of $2412.41 and an automatic six points will be assigned to his drivers’s record. The driver was also charged with Driving a Motor Vehicle without a Valid Drivers License and Driving a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance.

Stunting can be defined as traveling more than 50km/h over the posted speed limit. The RCMP take these matters seriously and deem them to be one of the most dangerous forms of aggressive driving. The RCMP will continue to target this form of driving to prevent serious injury and fatal collisions and to help keep Nova Scotia’s roadway safe.
